A sub-inspector of the Uttar Pradesh Police allegedly threw his daughter from the rooftop of his house here on Friday evening, as the girl had married without his permission.
The girl, admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries, recorded her statement at the hospital, accusing her father of attempting to kill her, according to sources.
Suresh Pal Singh was upset over his daughter Parul’s marriage with her class fellow Dilip Kumar at the Vaishno Devi temple on Monday. Parul and Dilip were students in a management institute in Meerut. On Friday, the couple legalised their marriage in a Ghaziabad court.
Singh came to know about his daughter’s marriage when he came home on Friday evening. And in a fit of rage, he allegedly threw her from the roof.
A case against Singh will be lodged on the basis of Parul’s complaint by Saturday evening, the sources said, adding that police teams had been dispatched to nab Singh, who is at present posted in Ghaziabad.
