Cop falls prey to filth at bus terminal

The police post at the bus terminal has three officers, including an assistant sub inspector. Three paramilitary officers have also been deployed on a patrolling duty. "The conditions at the bus stand are not suitable for work. The place is a stink hole and a breeding ground for mosquitoes," said a police officer on the condition of anonymity.

The city transport department had claimed that they will provide modern services, such as STD booths, drinking water, refreshments and toilets for men and women at the Gurgaon bus depot established in 1959.

However, most promises have fallen flat.

"Unkempt platforms, dirty washrooms, shortage of waiting halls, heaps of garbage and lack of basic amenities are synonymous with the bus terminal. The public conveniences are a picture of neglect, causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers visiting the city bus stand everyday," said Deepak Verma, a daily commuter.
