A constable suffered bullet wounds after police foiled a robbery attempt in Indirapuram late Tuesday night.
A gang of five were trying to rob a man of his i10 car amid a busy weekly market. When the man cried for help, some vegetable vendors challenged the robbers while others informed the police. Soon, two constables reached the spot and challenged the robbers. Finding themselves cornered, the robbers opened fire and one of the constables took a bullet in his thigh. The cops returned fire.
One of the robbers was also injured in police firing but they managed to escape, taking advantage of the dark. “We have launched a manhunt to nab the robbers,” said Gorakhnath Yadav, SHO, Indirapuram.
Senior police officers, including Ghaziabad SP SS Yadav rushed to the spot. “We will soon nab them,” said Yadav.
