With the arrest of four sharp-shooters allegedly linked to jailed mafia don Ramesh Yadav, city police have worked out the sensational murder case of Congress leader, Ram Lal Tripathi on Wednesday.

Police have recovered two motorcycles, four country-made pistols and several live cartridges from the arrested persons.

Briefing mediapersons, SSP Ashutosh Pandey informed that the arrested sharp-shooters and contract killers identified as Pintu Yadav, Bharat Bind, Sheru Guuta and Manoj Gupta are linked to dreaded mafia don Ramesh Yadav alias Babu Yadav.

He said the arrested persons were planning to commit more acts of heinous crime in the city in the next few days but their attempts have been foiled. One of the assailant, Manoj Gupta during interrogation, admitted that he was working for Babu Yadav. All the four arrested men along with another criminal from Azamgarh, Raju Yadav had met Babu in Ghazipur jail before Diwali and allegedly took up a contract for killing Ram Lal Tripathi.

Later, they shot dead Tripathi as per the plan on Friday evening in Adampur area.

Cops were engaged in investigation of the case when they got a tip-off that four criminals on two motorcycles were about to go to Mughasarai via Malviya bridge to commit a heinous crime. The policemen swung into action and started checking vehicles. Seeing the suspected men on two motorcycles, cops signalled them to stop but instead they started opening fire on the police party and made an abortive attempt to flee the scene. Cops soon overpowered the assailants and took into custody.
