The body of Sandeep Lohia — a first year student of Cambridge Institute of Education — was found on the track near Garhi Harsaru railway station on Sunday.

Lohia’s severed head was found the following day near the Sector 9 police station.

A suicide note was also recovered which stated that Lohia took the extreme step as he was ‘insulted’ by his college principal.

Though the police are investigating the case from all angles, Lohia’s family has alleged that it was a case of “honour killing.”

The victim had been in a relationship with a girl of the same institute for the past six months.

Following recovery of the deceased’s head, angry villagers of Nathupur had blocked the railway track on the Delhi-Rewari route for nearly an hour on Monday. The villagers protested the slow pace of investigation and demanded that the culprits be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, a case has been lodged against the deceased’s friend Prince, a resident of Palwal district, principal of Cambridge College of Education Sajjan Singh Yadav, and the girl’s parents, the police said.
