The bombs were recovered late on Tuesday from an auto-rickshaw near the passport office after police got a tip-off.

"We got information that bombs were being carried in an auto-rickshaw. During search operations, we found an auto-rickshaw near the passport office in Sector 2 of Dhruva area. Our police team questioned the driver and found a bag in the auto. Three powerful bombs were kept in the bag," a police official said.

The bomb disposal squad was called to defuse the bombs.

"We suspect the role of Maoists behind the incident," the police officer said.

In the last one week, police have recovered explosives and IEDs (improvised explosive devices) from different parts of the state.

On June 7, police recovered 275 gelatin sticks, 10 detonators and other materials used in preparing bombs from Hazaribgh road railway station of Giridih district.
