The police succeeded in unravelling the primary chain of the racket on Thursday night but the big fish were yet to be traced. The Chowk police had arrested one of the members of the gang running a petty retail counter and a smalltime player.

Those landed in the police net on Thursday were shop owner Sunil Agrawal and Kanhaiya Kumar Gupta, a printing press owner, both of Chowk. Circle officer (CO) Chowk Rajesh Sahni, who is supervising the case, has collected names of the leading members of the gang. Sahni had revealed names of these persons as Raju Punjabi, Guddu Kanaujia, Sunil Malhotra alias Bunty and Kamal Sindhi. They all are residents of Chowk area and majority of them run flourishing business of chikan garment.

Sahni said it was weekly closing day in Chowk, therefore, the police searched these suspects at their houses but all were absconding. The police teams had raided other possible hideouts but failed to trace them.

The CO said that Sunil Agrawal had revealed that besides him there were other retail counters too in Chowk, Thakurganj, Talkatora and other old city areas.
