A day after Dharmendra Singh Koli — the newly elected AAP MLA from Seemapuri, was booked on the charges of molestation, rioting and trespassing - investigators on Tuesday recorded the statements of some eyewitnesses.

“The preliminary probe into the incident revealed that some of Koli’s supporters had barged into Veer Singh Dhingan’s house and had burst fire crackers. We found traces of burnt firecrackers inside and outside Dhingan’s house. It will now be established if Koli had entered Dhingan’s house with his supporters,” said a senior investigating officer. The allegations of molestation and harassment of women will also be verified, the officer said.

“We will record the statements of both the parties and those of the eyewitnesses. Further action will be taken accordingly,” said Sanjay Beniwal, Joint Commissioner of Police (eastern range).

Reacting to the incident, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said the FIR registered against Koli was “wrong”, even as he went on to declare that Koli should not have celebrated the way he did — by busting crackers and dancing. “He (Koli) will be warned,” Kejriwal said.
