POLICE HAVE sought help from the Income Tax Department to gather evidence against Dr KK Singh and Dr RK Gupta, who were arrested in connection with arson on King George’s Medical University campus.
The Income Tax department has been asked to assess the properties of both, which police suspect, is disproportionate to their known sources of income. Police also think that their assets have been earned through the medical entrance examination racket that is being investigated by State and Central agencies.
Dr Singh, a teacher in the department of general surgery, was arrested on Thursday night while Dr Gupta, a junior doctor at KGMU, was nabbed on Saturday, in connection with arson on campus.
“We are writing to I-T officials to evaluate the assets of both. They have acquired movable and immovable property more than their known sources of income, possibly through the entrance examination racket,” said senior superintendent of police Ashutosh Pandey.
A detailed service record of Dr KK Singh has already been sent to the district police by the varsity administration.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, the varsity administration has found one driver amongst its students. He took admission several years ago, but failed to clear his examinations. He still drives the vehicle of one of the suspended junior doctors and was absent in several professional examinations.
The varsity administration is screening the list of students before the 2001 batch. This is being done to find out those who have enrolled as students, but neither attend classes nor take examinations.
