If what the cops say is correct, it was not the handiwork of the dreaded Kachha Baniyan gang but some locals who knew about the presence of lot of cash and jewellery in the house. Though most of the dacoits were dressed in the style of Kachha Baniyan gang when they scaled the wall and attacked the family, while going away, they wore the clothes of the house owner in a bid to dodge in case they were spotted by some one. The sniffer dog which was taken to the scene of crime led the cops upto the banks of the Ganga river where the dacoits had abandoned two boxes which they had carried away with them. Obviously, articles in the box were missing but police found a vest and a pair of sleepers at the same spot. After sniffing these two things the dog went upto a Neem tree in the same locality and stopped. This has led cops to suspect the hand of some locals in this incident.

Moreover people in the area also knew that Bilal's elder brother who had come back from Saudi Arabia was suffering from cancer and the family had been arranging money for his treatment by selling jewellery. Then one of the elderly lady in the house was also running a BC which fetched Rs 20,000 per month. All this information combined could have served as an idea to those who planned this heist, said a cop.

However, there are other angles that were being looked into. Also, the description of the dacoits as told to police by Alavia, one of the minor girls who was an eyewitness to this gory incident, has led cops to believe that the men involved in this crime were from Bilal's community. One of them was sporting a beard, said a visible shaken Alavia.
