POLICE RESORTED to use of mild force for dispersing a violent mob of lawyers outside the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in the Collectorate here on Saturday. The lawyers and locals were trying to beat the mastermind of the twin bomb blasts in Varanasi, Waliullah, who had been brought to the court from the district jail in connection with the hearing on his police remand.

The court was adjourned following uproarious scenes in and around the court. Promptly, the cops shifted the accused to jail.
As the accused was brought to the court, the lawyers and locals lost their cool and stormed into the court and made an abortive attempt to beat him.
But the police foiled their attempt and resorted to use of mild force.
Consequently, a stampede was witnessed on the Collectorate premises.
The demonstrators were raising slogans against Pakistan and terrorism.
It may be noted that the accused arrested by the STF from Lucknow on April 5, had been brought here on April 20 on transit remand.
