In the last four months the department has taken action against 15 government officials for their role in corrupt practices. Last year, only 22 cases were registered, an official said.

"Complaints are coming out against the corrupt government employees and the figure is rising and reached up to 204% as compared to last year. The figure can go beyond that as number of complaints is coming from across the city. And we will take action against the corrupt officials, said Sheel Madhur, inspector general of the state vigilance commission.

The commission has been facing shortage of man power. It has 22 sanctioned posts that included 1 SP, 2 DSP, 11 inspectors, 5 sub inspectors, and 8 assistant sub inspectors. However, the department has been functioning with only 12 officials including 2 DSP, 4 inspectors and 6 sub-inspectors.

"We are lacking of around 45% of staff strength. We have written letter to the higher authority to address this issue. The problem will be sorted out soon," he added.

Madhur said the city vigilance department has been looking after six districts which include Mewat, Narnaul, Rewari, Faridabad, Palwal and Gurgaon.

Recently vigilance team has caught a forest officer red handed while taking bribe.
