Many of the migrants from India had to struggle in the small "development towns" and agricultural settlements on arrival.

Today, Israelis of Indian origin have reached a respectable socio-economic level. Though the younger generation born in Israel are losing their Indian identity there is considerable interest in maintaining cultural links with India as they are aware that their ancestors never faced discrimination in India, unlike Jewish communities in other parts of the world.
