A couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree in a primary school situated outside their village after their parents opposed their alliance, police said today.

19-year-old Vinod, a resident of Kakwan's Naya Nevada village, fell in love with 18-year-old Rani and wanted to marry her. The parents of the couple, however, were against their relationship.

The couple committed suicide on Sunday by hanging themselves from the tree, Superintendent of Police S P Lal Bahadur said.
