Ravinder Kumar of Singhpura Khurd village of Jat community and Jyoti Devi of Gaddi Kheri village of ther backward community married at a Delhi court. Both had eloped from village a fortnight ago and registered their marriage on October 1 and demanded police protection after Kumar's family received threats from khap representatives.

Bimla Devi, mother of Kumar had demanded security cover for family and alleged that khaps of eight villages had been forcing the family of social boycott, if they did not produce the couple before them.

Talking to media persons, eight villages(Aethgama) pardan Anand Kumar, said after meeting with superintendent of police on Friday, that men and women of eight villages, which share brotherhood are prohibited to marry within this juridiction. He said that this custom has been preserved and well respected by all communities of these eight villages and khaps at no cost can strike compromise on this stand. He said that brotherhood(Guhaand in local parlance) means a lot for them and if such things start happening, and this idea would not be accepted by their society.
