A local court here on Saturday convicted five persons and sentenced them to five years of rigorous imprisonment for manufacturing illegal arms, police said.

Additional District Sessions Judge P C Shrivastava imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the accused Aman Jamil and his four sons - Afzal, Zahir Alam, Khalil, and Hadshim Ali after holding them guilty.

Around 70 cartridges and 10 country-made pistols were seized when an illegal arms manufacturing factory was raided by the police at Sikandarpur village on November 11, 1999, according to prosecution.
