The local court on Friday rejected CBI's plea for polygraph test on two accused in British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling death case.
The Children's court for state of Goa at Panaji refused to concede to CBI's plea for permission to conduct polygraph test (lie detection test) on Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho, both the accused in Scarlett death case.
British teenager Scarlett's bruised semi nude corpse was found at Anjuna beach near Panaji on February 18, 2008. Goa police in their investigation had booked both the accused for drugging, raping and leaving the 15-year-old Scarlett to die on the beach.
The CBI which is investigating this case had claimed before the court that both the accused 'were not cooperating with them.'
The central agency took over the investigation of this case from Goa police on June 05, 2008. Subsequently, the probe was commissioned through its special crime branch in Mumbai.
The plea by CBI claimed that the accused were summoned for the investigation but both of them did not cooperate with the investigating agency.
"Thus it becomes essential and necessary to have both accused subjected to polygraph test at Central Forensic Science labouratory, Delhi."
The court noted that Goa police had moved similar application during their investigation period before the court which was rejected.
