The Council had declined to issue the provisional registration certificates to the students of this college saying it was not a recognised institution.

The court said the students be given provisional registration with effect from the date they had applied, enabling them to engage in capacity of resident doctors in any approved institution.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice R S Jha directed the MP Medical Council to give provisional registration to the MBBS graduates who had applied for it. The court passed the order during hearing of a PIL filed by Professor (Retired) B R Banerjee saying the students should be given provisional registration at the earliest so that they may not lose their one-year.
