A local court on Tuesday reserved its judgment on a petition filed by megastar Amitabh Bachchan against Barabanki district magistrate's order cancelling transfer of some land in his name.
Additional commissioner (administration) Vidya Sagar, after hearing the arguments of Bachchan's counsel MB Singh, reserved his order on the issue.
Singh said that the then Barabanki district magistrate Aashish Goyal had declared that the mode of transfer of land to Bachchan was illegal and directed to lodge an FIR in the matter.
Singh said the land in question, measuring two bigha five biswas, located in Daulatpur village under Fatehpur tehsil in Barabanki was entered in the name of Amitabh Bachchan following an order of consolidation officer, Barabanki on August 10, 1993.
It was also in his possession but some villagers complained to the Barabanki district magistrate about the transfer stating that Bachchan was neither a farmer nor a resident of Barabanki.
RS Sahu, who succeeded Goyal, on the revision petition of Bachchan requesting for giving him an opportunity to put up his case for the sake of natural justice, stayed the execution of Goyal's order of April 26, 2006, and directed for maintaining status quo.
After this, Singh said, Bachchan filed a revision suit before the Commissioner, Faizabad division, with a prayer to quash the order of Goyal on the ground that no reasonable opportunity was given to him to present his legal position.
