THE ALLAHABAD High Court has directed the district magistrate, Basti to file his personal affidavit as to under what circumstances and under what authority of law, he granted a conditional no-objection certificate to a company for establishing a petrol pump in anticipation of getting the approval from the authority concerned. This order was passed by a Division Bench comprising Justice Dr BS Chauhan and Justice Dilip Gupta on a writ petition filed by one Ram Asrey Yadav Automobiles, Basti.

Appearing on behalf of the petitioner, his counsels Neeraj Kanta Verma and Syed Ali Imam contended that the petrol pump that had been constructed by the company was against all rules and norms as it was less than the prescribed minimum distance from the petitioner’s petrol pump, and was also without any sanction of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department.Passing this order, the court directed the other respondents to file reply within a period of two weeks. The court directed to list this case after two weeks and also directed the case to be listed thereafter.
Hearing on HCBA poll today: A FIVE - JUDGE Bench of Allahabad High Court will hear a writ petition on the election of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Monday.
The petition requests the Court to issue direction that all members of the HCBA be permitted to cast their votes in the forthcoming polls scheduled to be held on March 2.The petition says that all HCBA members had resolved in a general body meeting to hold the election and got the returning officers appointed. However, now they had been deprived of voting rights, which was improper.
