Thought that couture garments by Tarun Tahiliani were enough of an indulgence for your wedding day? Would you be able to resist a statement necklace designed to match that fairytale lehenga? Probably not.
Forevermark diamonds has joined hands with Tahiliani to create unique jewellery, in tune with the his couture bridal wear. The two have already collaborated on the Precious collection, where nine international designers including Tahiliani created one-of-a-kind pieces using forvere mark diamonds. Tahiliani’s piece, a diamond encrusted castle, is called Noor-e-Jhoohar, and is currently on exhibit around the world.
The bridal pieces have a starting range of Rs 5 lakh and have been created by diamantaire Shrenuj. “I showed the people at Forevermark my couture sketches to help them expand on their ideas. Because we were working with big, beautiful stones, I wanted the designs to be classic and simple.. not to overpower the natural elegance of the diamond,” explains Tahiliani.
Binita Cooper, MD, Forevermark says, “Brides today may scrounge on other details of the wedding, maybe the catering or the number of ceremonies. But they would never wear costume jewellery or borrow someone’s jewels for their big day. They will still spend big bucks on getting the perfect wedding set.”
Cooper insists that the hefty price tag won’t deter buyers because these pieces are looked at as investments. “Most of these pieces will become heirlooms. Also, because they’re so timeless, they’re not restricted by age. A young woman and her mother can wear the same piece.”
