"Contrary to allegations made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and other political parties, the CPI-M cadres do not have any links with the Maoists," CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat said during a party rally organised to protest against rise of communalism and price rise.

The inquiry conducted by CRPF in Lalgarh in West Bengal following the Union Home Minister's directive had found the affected people who had taken refuge in the camps had links with the Maoists and not with CPI-M cadres.

"We will fight against the evil designs of both Trinamool Congress and the Maoists," he said.

Referring to elections in West Bengal, scheduled later this year, Karat claimed that the people would vote the party back to power as it had done "great work" for them during the last 34 years.
