Veteran CPI(M) leader MP Devasia died at his residence in Thellakom in Kottayam on Friday of abdominal cancer.

He was 81. He is surrived by his wife and six children, family sources said.

Devasia was the former member of CPI(M) district secretariat, vice-president of the Kerala state Karshaka thozhilali union and member of all india karshaka thozhilali union general council.

The body will be cremated at Municipal Creamatorium at Muttambalam here this afternoon.
