Delegates, who spoke so far at 20th state conference of the party being attended by general secretary Prakash Karat and polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury, underscored need to attach more attention to the local issues besides national and global issues.

The four day long state conference got underway on Sunday last is taking place after four years. Party spokesperson Gautam Das said Tuesday that 45 delegates so far participated in the discussions as the conference comes to an end Wednesday.

Important feature of the current conference is that the delegates from rural and tribal areas have been vocal on local issues and purification of the party in light of debacle in Kerala and West Bengal. The party has now been in power only in Triprua state thus the delegates felt need to consolidate and strengthen organisation.

Das stated many delegates ventilated idea to educate ideologies and disciplines to new entrants in the party. "Still there are many people even from oppressed class in the opposition camp. Delegates wanted massive party programmes to win over them", Gautam Das said.

"There have been massive development in the state, but people have more expectations. Several speakers wanted an awareness campaign by the party to make people understand about limitations of the government", he asserted.

Those from 512 odd delegates spoke urged party men and women to remain alert as time of elections is approaching close. Party general secretary Prakash Karat in his inaugural speech on Sunday also warned that the elections would be tough and party needs an all-out preparation.

Polit bureau member Sitam Yechury echoed the same when he addressed the conference Tuesday. "Enemies would try to defeat us in next assembly elections in Tripura, but we would defeat the conspirators", he said.
