The party will discuss the government's performance over the past two years vis-a-vis the implementation of "pro- people" commitments made in the Common Minimum Programme, including steps taken to stem price rise and the crisis in the agricultural sector.

The Left parties have asked the government to carry forward the composite dialogue and peace process with Pakistan, and the CPI will deliberate the outcome of the parleys Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had with President Pervez Musharraf in Havana on Saturday.

The National Executive meeting comes in the backdrop of the Left parties deciding to explore the possibility of contesting the polls on a joint platform.

The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the four parties in view of the CPI-M and the CPI finding themselves contesting elections on different platforms, as was witnessed in the last elections in Bihar.
