CPM leader missing case: DNA test to identity decomposed body

Police have decided to conduct DNA test to ascertain whether a highly decomposed body recovered from a city's suburban area today was that of senior CPI-M leader W R Varadarajan,who has been missing since February 11.

Police have decided to conduct DNA test to ascertain whether a highly decomposed body recovered from a city's suburban area today was that of senior CPI-M leader W R Varadarajan,who has been missing since February 11.

According to highly placed officials in city police, a body was recovered from Porur here today and there were suspicions that it could be that of the former MLA, who had left home owing to some personal problems.

Since his foster son could not identify the decomposed body, it was decided to conduct a DNA test, officials said adding, that the body was kept at the Government Royapettah Hospital, where some CPI-M leaders were also scheduled to identify it.

Varadarajan, a sought after interpreter for public meetings of CPI-M national leaders, was beset with personal problems and had left home on February 11 after writing two unsigned letters, the content of which have not been released.

The party had lasst week filed complaints with the City Commissioner and DGP's office about the disappearance of the former Central committee member.
