IT COULD have been a virtual face-off between the pro- and anti-Ramdev groups. While the Communist leaders took out a procession in support of CPM Politburo member Brinda Karat, at least 15 prominent organisations convened a joint press conference here today to express their solidarity with Baba Ramdev.
After the pro-Ramdev demonstrations in the city today, it was turn of supporters of Brinda Karat to express their solidarity in a similar fashion.

Members of the CPM, CITU and Janwadi Mahila Morcha took out a large procession in support of Karat here on Sunday. They also demanded an impartial inquiry by the Union Government to bring out the truth.

The procession started from Fazalganj Crossing and after traversing through Kalpi Road, Sangeet Cinema and Chandrika Devi Crossing, it culminated at Deputy-Ka-Parao. The processionists were carrying placards with slogans in favour of Karat and accusing Ramdev of violating the Indian Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Several roadside meetings were also held during the procession. The Left leaders were of the opinion that only an impartial inquiry could be able to expose Ramdev and his nefarious activities.

CITU leader Arvind Kumar said, “No one is pointing finger at yoga or ayurveda, but at the ingredients used by Ramdev in his medicines manufactured at Divya Yog Pharmacy.”

The prominent organisations which took part in the press conference included Hindu Jagran Manch, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Vidhyarti Parishad, Arya Samaj, Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, and Patanjali Yog Peeth.

They demanded a CBI inquiry to expose the guilty. They also decided to burn the effigy of Brinda Karat on Monday.
