The health officials continued the crackdown across the state on doctors violating norms of safe medical practice, disposal of bio-medical waste and on bogus medical practitioners following the hepatitis outbreak in Sabarakantha which has till now claimed 53 lives.
The state health department, food and drugs department and local district authorities have been working in tandem conducting inspection of clinics of private medical practitioners, raiding scrap dealer in search of bio-medical wastes and identifying fake doctors operating in various regions.
The State government that swung into action following the hepatitis outbreak in the Sabarkantha district, mainly in Modasa taluka, has till date filed police complaints against more than 20 doctors and booked more than 50 fake doctors and touts for operating without proper licenses.
They continued their inspection today in various district including Bharuch, Patan, Modasa, Ahmedabad, Dahod, Anand.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health officials have so far filed police complaints against eight doctors under the Medical Practitioners Act, sealed 35 clinic for improper disposal of bio-medical waste and issued 461 notice to doctors across the city.
