Seven days after a pregnant woman was killed after a speeding BMW car rammed a Tata Indigo on May 5, the father of the deceased, who also suffered injuries in the accident, was discharged from the hospital on Friday. Sanjay Gulati, the driver of the Indigo car, was also killed in the mishap.
The family of deceased Kshama Chopra is still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
While Kshama's mother is yet to regain consciousness, her husband, Shailesh Shetye, 33, fractured his pelvis and is bed-ridden for two months.
The family will be staying in Gurgaon for the next few months as they have been advised not to travel.
Recalling the sequence of events, Shailesh, who works with Accenture in Mumbai, told HT on Friday, “My wife came to Gurgaon from Bhilai for her father's treatment at Medanta Hospital. I joined her from Mumbai. After three days, we decided to return as doctors had recommended a bypass surgery. On the tragic day, we went to Bikanervala for breakfast in Sector 29. My father-in-law was sitting in the front, while Kshama, her mother and I were on the rear seat. When we reached at Iffco Chowk, a speeding BMW rammed our taxi.”
Shailesh said he was concerned about the safety of his in-laws. “They are old. We've heard that the man who owns the BMW is influential. Though we don't belong to Gurgaon, we have full faith in the police,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}“Nobody from the BMW owner's family has met us. We thank the man who brought my family to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. He is the eye-witness in the case,” said Geetu Manchanda, deceased Kshama's sister. “My mother is in the ICU and her condition is critical. My father does not even know that Kshama died in the accident,” added Geetu.
