Giant pillars, spectacular backdrop, beautiful clothes, Kabir Bedi and Dimple Kapadia walking hand in hand and a jam-packed venue… the theatrical presentation coupled with unmatched elegance at JJ Valaya’s show marked grand finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week’s autumn/winter presentations at the Intercontinental Eros Hotel on Sunday.
The day began with young Nida Mahmood’s presentation with the theme ‘High on Chai’ where the designer percolated it well through the collection. As chaat, paan and chaiwallahs settled themselves on the fashion runway and a few ladies started selling glass bangles to the audience, models started parading donning the designer’s creations. The theme was well executed right from the headgears and bags to her garments and footwear. I must say that Nida’s innovative way of making models wear saris with jeans is something our young ladies should try. It looked chic.
While ‘Ekru’ by Ekta Jaipuria and Ruchita Kandhari was pleasant to watch, at the presentation of ‘Utpala’ by Charu Parashar, the designer chose to present one look through her collection in muted greens.
The day also had menswear presentations by Manoviraj Khosla and Rajvi Mohan. As Manoviraj this time decided to make his collection completely wearable, even as he threw in a few creations in linens in his autumn/winter line, Rajvi’s collection remained completely in sync with the winter theme. Her short tunic jackets with contrasting colour highlights and flannel trousers were particularly good.

{{/usCountry}}Also appealing was Anjana Bhargav’s collection where the designer played around with irregular lengths of her dresses. Geisha by Shalini & Paras came out with an impressive collection of greys with razor-sharp pleats.
Sanchita was yet another label that came out with some of the most trendy looks this season. Her collection of dresses and skirts and use of satin was something to watch out for.
Puja Nayyar made her comeback to fashion weeks with a bang as she presented her collection of dresses and saris. Puja’s presentation was not just high on appeal but elevated on saleability and contemporary feel even in her saris. The collection, broken into four segments, was received well.
Ashish N Soni betters his collection each time and this time around, too, he presented a series of garments that were ‘out-of-this-world’ appeal. They were extremely wearable and contemporary in the form of suits, dresses, jackets and skirts. The participating designers filled the last day with creative outbursts.
