A Crime Branch officer of Chhattisgarh police was arrested for allegedly molesting a US tourist in a running train.

A Crime Branch officer of Chhattisgarh police was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly molesting a US tourist in a running train, police said.

"Assistant sub inspector Umendra Mishra was arrested under section 354 IPC on charge of molesting Hanna Bridget (26) past midnight last night on Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express," Railway DIG Pawan Deo said.

The incident occurred between Champa and Bilaspur stations, about 300 km from here, and the police officer is posted with the Bilaspur district Crime Branch, Deo said.

He said the police officer had been arrested following a written complaint by Hanna.

During the investigation, it also come to light that the officer was travelling without ticket and it was being verified, Deo said.
