Crime Branch seeks to postpone 26/11 trial

The Crime Branch on Saturday filed an application in the sessions court seeking postponement of the Mumbai terror attack trial from March 23, the date for which the magistrate’s court had committed the trial, to April 13.

The Crime Branch on Saturday filed an application in the sessions court seeking postponement of the Mumbai terror attack trial from March 23, the date for which the magistrate’s court had committed the trial, to April 13.

The Crime Branch, in its application, said that as the security arrangements for the trial in the special court are yet to be completed, the date

of the hearing be pushed ahead.

The lone surviving terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab and the alleged mapmakers Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin Ahmed will face trial in the 26/11 case.

The Crime Branch, in the application, said they had received a letter from the Public Works Department which has sought time till April 12 to complete the security arrangements.

Special judge M.L. Tahilyani is likely to pass an order on the application on Monday when the sessions court would hear the matter for the first time. However, the sessions court allowed the application moved by the Crime Branch seeking production of Kasab through video conferencing on Monday.
