Resident of Ghasiyari Mandi Anwar says, “We live in narrow lanes where sanitary conditions are poor. The corporator wins elections due to the demographic setup of the ward but his win has nothing to do with his performance.”

“Encroachments in front of the Jaihind Complex and on the stretch from Shubham to Qaiserbagh leaves no space for the vehicles. Roads would soon become extinct in the locality,” fears another resident Rajesh.

Resident of Ghasiyari Mandi Sanjay Sonkar says, “Look at the nullah! It is never cleaned and the corporator cares only for his votes. We are left to combat the filthy condition on our own.”

“We face severe water problem in our ward and lanes are in a dilapidated conditions. During the rainy season we face water logging,” laments Sirajuddin.

“I feel pinched when I see poor law and order condition,” says Meraj Ahmed, adding, “A number of criminals are busy extorting money from businessmen in the area. They are the ones who have made lives difficult for residents. Eve-teasing has become routine and shady elements are allegedly sheltered by local politicians.”

On the poor sanitary conditions and encroachment, he said, “I have always advocated removal of encroachments in the ward but what can I do if vegetable vendors keep throwing waste around all day. I can’t get the road cleaned in Kasierbagh all day.”
