A special rath has been launched by the KVUM to exhort traders to keep their establishments closed on the day. National president of the Akhil Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Shyam Behari Mishra was personally overseeing all the arrangements. A prominent leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Mishra is leaving nothing to chance to reassert his supremacy over the trader community. The bandh is also being seen as an opportunity for him to settle scores with cabinet-ranked trader leader of the city Surendra Mohan Agarwal, who is being portrayed as the de facto in-charge of the SP in the city.

However, considering the growing resentment among traders against the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, Mishra will not have to make much efforts to ensure a successful bandh. Almost all vyapar mandals of the city are supporting the bandh.

KUVM president, Naval Khanna said, “Almost all vyapar mandals of the city have sent their letters of support for the bandh.” The KUVM had also issued a circular making the closure of shops and commercial establishments mandatory on Tuesday. Members of the vyapar mandal had personally contacted trader leaders to seek their support, he added. The vypar mandal has also held several meetings to make the bandh successful.

Traders plan to take out a massive procession that would begin from the Shikshak Park at 12 noon and after passing through Badachauraha and other areas of the city would reach the office of the district magistrate. They would submit a memorandum addressed to the Governor to the DM.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Shyam Behari Mishra said, “The bandh will be successful.” Traders were going to vent their anger against the district administration and the state government by keeping their shops and commercial establishments closed on Tuesday, he added.
