Hollywood actors Jude Law and Rachel Weisz have bagged top honours at the annual Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards. Law, 37, won the award for Best Shakespearean Performance for his

Weisz, 39, won Best Actress for her performance as Blanche DuBois in

A Streetcar Named Desire

at the Donmar Warehouse. Charles Spencer of

praised Law’s performance as one of “rare vulnerability and emotional openness”. While talking about Weisz, he said that

the Mummy

star rose to the challenge “magnificently”.

Meanwhile, the Best Actor award went to Mark Rylance for playing gipsy Johnny Byron in

Jerusalem

, about the dark underside of rural English life. The play by Jez Butterworth at the Royal Court won Best New Play, reports the
