According to the academic calendar, all admissions to the first year of graduate courses should have been completed by June 30 and classes begun by July 11. In order to ensure the implementation of the calendar, the colleges were re-opened in the last week of June, yet the target could not be achieved.

Admissions are still on in all colleges and in all probability, the admission process will continue till July 15.

According to teachers of these colleges, the whole process would take another 15 days to get completed. For resuming teaching, it would take another 15 days because teachers were in admission committees and they would not be free till all admissions to the final year were completed, they said. The process of admission is likely to be delayed at self-financed colleges because they won’t get students till admissions continue in aided colleges. Besides, many SFCs have to wait for the renewal of registration for taking admissions. A large number of these colleges are yet to receive the renewal order from the university.

Though, the university has permitted the colleges to hold extra classes on Sunday, or during other holidays, past experience has shown that for want of students and other legal complexities, extra classes are not much of a success.

Meanwhile, to facilitate admission seekers, the university has allowed enhancement in seats at every college by 25 per cent. They have also been allowed to run noon classes, after obtaining permission from the university, CSJMU registrar Mahesh Chandra said.
