Culling of poultry in bird flu affected West Bengal was completed on Wednesday as no further samples tested positive for the dreaded virus.

There were no further reports from the HSDAL, Bhopal, of any sample testing positive from any part of the country, the Union Animal Husbandry Department said here.

No unusual mortality was reported from West Bengal on Tuesday.

Culling operations were completed in West Bengal. A total of 196 Rapid Response Teams were engaged which completed culling of 19,014 birds in the mopping up exercise, taking the figure of cumulative culling to 38.15 lakh.

The first round of mopping operations have already been completed in both the districts of neighbouring Assam.

In Bihar, 28 per cent of the culling task has been completed with 1,32,314 birds already culled. Culling has also been completed in the notified areas of Purnia district.
