Long term effect: Anger makes you prone to artery and heart diseases if you are madly chasing a target in life.
If you are working as a boss, and you admonish your junior, instead of doing any good to your junior, it weakens your heart and you become prone to various heart diseases.

This relationship between anger and heart diseases was shown by eminent cardiologist and Padmashree Ashok Seth, chairman of Max Heart Hospital, New Delhi, who was in the city to take part in CARDICON-2006, organised by LPS Institute of Cardiology, GSVM Medical College at the International Centre of Chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University.

Talking to the HT, Dr Seth said, “There are two types of anger in human beings: positive and negative. The former is harmless but the latter is fatal for the heart.”

He also said 20 years ago such kind of patients were not many but now it was one of the main reasons behind heart ailments in youth. “In the present scenario inter-personal relationship is deteriorating and in an effort to win the race in life, youths exhibit negative anger which damages their heart,” added Dr Seth.
He, however, denied any negative effect of globalisation on the heart. He advised people to refrain from negative anger by diverting the brain from the issue that makes you angry. “Youths can get rid of negative anger by counselling, yoga, meditation and changing the mindset towards positive anger,” said Dr Seth.

Earlier, Prof Savitri Srivastava, senior consultant cardiologist, made a presentation on ‘Device Closure In Congenital Heart Diseases’.

Later, she said marriages with family members was one of the major reason behind heart diseases. She also said women above 35 years of age were more prone to give birth to a child with heart ailments. Dr Savitri said, “Pregnant women above 35 must take extra care in the first three months of pregnancy.”
