"A decision has been taken to totally lift curfew from the riot-torn parts of Hyderabad. However, as a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders will continue to be in place," Hyderabad Commissioner of Police A K Khan said.

The prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC banning assembly of five or more persons, every kind of procession, dharna, rally or public meetings shall be in force from 0600 hrs on April 11 to 0600 hrs on April 17.

The police also claimed to have achieved a breakthrough into the investigation of three murders committed during the communal riots by arresting three youths.

Clashes broke out between members of two communities over erection of religious flags on March 27, ahead of Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations, prompting the police to impose indefinite curfew in 25 police stations from March 29.

Curfew will be completely lifted from Saturday night.
