Curfew was relaxed from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm as the situation improved today, SSP Budgam Aftab Ahmad Kakroo told PTI.

Shops and business establishments were open and traffic plied normally.

Curfew was imposed in the town on Tuesday as a precautionary measure following a clash between residents of Kangamdur and Hagurpur on Monday evening over a piece of land. However, no one was hurt in the clash.

The trouble started when unidentified persons pulled down a hoarding put up by a particular community on the piece of land in the honour of a renowned spiritual leader of Iran, police said.

This infuriated the community members, who took to streets and indulged in stone-pelting on the houses of the rival community, resulting in clashes in at least over a dozen villages of Magam, they said.
