Several common things have emerged in dacoity incidents committed in the recent past. The dacoits, following a pattern similar to that of the Brijeshwari incident at the house of Dr Anil Tyagi, entered through the window. Also, the dacoits wore monkey caps in all recent incidents.

The dacoits are also dressed in modern clothing and their language is also devoid of rustic undertones. Often they address their victims courteously as uncle or aunty. In this case called Sulbha Pendse ‘aunty’ and said they were committing the dacoity as they were jobless.

The pattern shows that dacoits have put in a lot of homework, as they know the number of family members, their economic position and other details, which was evident in the case of Dr Tyagi. Here they are said to have shown their knowledge of the doctor having cash in hand from a real estate deal. In this case, they said that an engineer has to have lots of money.

Also the notion of big dogs as guards has also taken a beating, as in this case and that of Dr Tyagi, dogs were silenced into submission. Furthermore, neighbours generally seem oblivious to each other’s existence and are not bothered about happenings around them.
