DaimlerChrysler India on Wednesday announced the launch of a more powerful version of the 'Mercedes C-Class' to further boost sales of the luxury car.

The latest 'C 220 CDI' features common-rail direct injection (CRDI) diesel engine and has over 80 components for higher torque, power output, fuel consumption, lower emission and higher comfort, a company release said.

The Mercedes 'C-Class' was launched in April 2001 and its sales during 2003 rose by 20.3 per cent to 746 units.

The model would be showcased at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2004.

DaimlerChrysler also makes the 'S-Class' and 'E-Class' cars at its factory at Pune. It imports and sells other vehicles like 'M-Class' and 'SLK' in the country.
