BULLS! BULLS! Bulls! Shout like this and people will run off in every direction as if they have seen a wolf!
From a vegetable market, Hazratganj crossing, Charbagh railway station and its platforms, to road crossings and government hospitals, bulls have become the latest bugbear here, especially so after recent incidents of bull charge and resultant death.
From March 25 till last Sunday, two major incidents of bull running amok happened. In two separate incidents, the bull injured a total of eight people, killing one.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is in no position to drive bad bulls out of the city. The city has about 5,000 stray bulls to deal with.
Bulls and stray dogs make a dangerous combination which can happen anywhere anytime just like it happened on March 25 at Goel Crossing in Aliganj. A stray dog barked at the bull and then attempted to chase him. The bull began to run in reflex action. In it’s directionless gallops, he hit five people in the area, injuring them. The LMC had not responded to complain that the locals had made before the incident had happened. But, after the incident it caught the bull and sent him to Kanjihouse.
And then on the night of April 9, a bull killed one Sohanlal Kahaujia, 55, in Gopalpurwa colony, behind Mahanagar and injured two other people. Sohanlal Kanaujia was going somewhere on foot a bull caught him unawares and hit him from behind. When some passers-by tried to shoo the bull away, it went mad even further and banged his head against Sohanlal’s belly several times and injured two more people. And then the bull left the spot. Sohanlal died on way to a hospital. Again the LMC in promptness caught this bull too—after it took its toll.
