I have been staying at Rosewood City for the past seven years and I commute to Delhi frequently, apart from other areas surrounding Gurgaon. I often travel late at night and the lack of adequate streetlights is a major issues. Several roads in the city turn into dark alleys after dusk. It is a nightmare to travel in the winters after 8pm. The lack of lighting is a pressing security issue for women too.

I have even witnessed few cases of snatching on my way. But all I can do is take precautions whenever I am late on my way back home.

Several requests to the Gurgaon administration to improve the situation have also fallen on deaf ears.

Though everyone, including my wife and friends, take special care while driving after sunset, it is not the permanent solution.

The administration needs to adequately light up city roads and improve police patrolling.

In mails to top officials in the Huda, MCG and the deputy commissioner, I have always pointed out the dark spots and the nature of threat commuters like me perceive. The administration spends lakhs of rupees on maintenance of street lights and police patrolling but the crime graph reflects otherwise.

More street lights and stricter police patrolling round-the-clock is the need of the hour.
