DAVV executive committee meet today

THE EXECUTIVE Committee (EC) of the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalya (DAVV) will discuss a 25-point agenda at a meeting on Saturday. Most of the topics to be discussed relate to several old issues, which require redressal and approval.

The committee will also discuss a major decision pertaining to the purchase section.

The main topic on the EC agenda will be formation of committees for the honorary doctorate degrees award function wherein the Chancellor and Governor Dr Balram Jakhar will felicitate eminent personalities on January 28. As the university is awarding such degrees after a gap of several years, the matter is on the top of the priority list.

The fact that there is little time left for the function is giving some anxious moments to the Vice Chancellor Dr Rajkamal, who has been instrumental in planning the function. The V-C wants to speed up the work.

Another matter of equal importance, which is second on the EC agenda relates to holding a convention of scientists. The varsity proposes to invite President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as the chief guest of the convention.

The other topics include such issues as poor results of BDS Final Year students and B Ed, which have been long plaguing the varsity. The executive committee is likely to take important decisions regarding these matters.
