‘ENCOUNTER SPECIALIST’ Daya Nayak is likely to move court for anticipatory bail tomorrow fearing arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
ACB sources said here today that the first information report (FIR) had been prepared earlier but government sanction for initiating prosecution process against Nayak was awaited. The sanction was finally received and the case against Nayak was registered on Friday. Nayak has been absconding ever since filing of the FIR.
The ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Nayak and his wife Komal for allegedly amassing illegitimate wealth. Nayak’s known monthly income is around Rs 10,000 but he allegedly possessed assets worth
Initially, then Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shankar Kamble had conducted an inquiry and submitted an interim report to the court.
Another report was submitted to the MCOCA court after an inquiry by ACP Dilip Sawant. It is understood that Sawant had referred to ‘disproportionate assets’ owned by Nayak in the report. Sawant’s report had also implicated
