Speaking on the occasion, Bajpai said, “Data collected by the National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) has revealed that the number of OBCs is 36 per cent instead of 52 per cent. Out of this, 6 per cent belong to the Muslim community. Hindus falling under backward class category are 30 per cent.”

Under this, survey it has also been revealed that the number of Brahmins is 14 per cent,” Bajpai added.

“In Andra Pradesh, where there is 5 per cent reservation for those belonging to Muslim backward classes, in UP there should be a provision under which Brahmins who are financially weak should get 14 per cent reservation,” he said.

Bajpai added, a delegation of student leaders of AUU including Abhay Awasthi, Kripashankar Upadhyay, Ramakant Tripathi and Raghunath Dwivedi will meet Prime Minister and the committee members including Pranab Mukherjee, P Chidambaram, HR Bhardwaj in Delhi next week, to press their demand for reservation to upper caste poor students.
