Vice-chancellor Prof Arun Kumar has constituted a three-member committee under the chairmanship of HoD Law Department, Prof Anirudh Prasad, to look into the matter and asked him to submit the report by January 23. Meanwhile, principal of St Andrew’s Degree College Prof JK Lal said that the college was a minority institution and had the right to fill all hundred seats in the BEd course.

It is to be noted that the BEd course at St Andrew’s has been under fire since its first academic session last year when the college filled more than 50 per cent seats under the management quota. This year the college refused to give admission to any student sent by the university after counselling. According to norms, 50 students should be admitted after counselling and on the proposal of the university authority while other 50 could be filled through management quota. While principal claimed that he could fill all 100 seats as the college was a minority institute, chairman of university admission committee Dr SN Tripathi said the college could give admission to only 50 under the management quota.
