A residential quarter in the swanky W Block of Greater Kailash I in New Delhi has acquired the dubious distinction of being haunted by supernaturals. The house, situated near police station, is a two-storied structure on a sprawling 400-plus square yard.
According to a media report, an old couple living in this house more than a decade ago was brutally murdered by a visiting yoga guru to the house. The police said the couple, YK Kaul and his wife Madhuri Kaul, was strangulated to death in 1987 by Swami Vikramanand and his accomplice, Mandajeet Singh, to obtain the property in Delhi and other parts of the country worth a big bounty. The assailant threw their bodies into an underground water tank and absconded. Since then the house was rumored to be revisited by the apparitions of the old couple.
Nearly 14 years after the incidence police arrested godman Vikramanand and Mandajeet Singh. However, the third accused in the case, Suresh, alias Heera, servant of the couple, had since expired. The police had also arrested Surender Arora, who worked as a stamp vendor at the Sub-Registrar's Office in Seelampur, and Jyoti Prasad for helping Swami Vikramanand to forge the property documents. Even after unraveling of the murder mystery, the deceased couple still routinely returned to their house.
The couple had neither any legal heir to own the property nor had they prepared any will for its ownership, the police said. After the gory murder, the property was taken over by the Administrator General and the Official Trustee, Government of Delhi, as there were no legal claimants for it. A series of advertisements were published in newspapers asking for legitimate relations of the couple to lay claim on the house. But all efforts failed as nobody could validate his or her claim.
