Playing dead has been an interesting, although risky, manoeuvre when it comes to carrying out insurance scams and dodging creditors. But Chuck Lamb is clearly the sort who has bigger plans for his innate talent of pretending to be deceased. Mr Lamb, courtesy the world wide web, is perhaps the most famous dead body alive. Hosting his own little show on the website deadbodyguy.com, he plays possum for a noble, artistic cause — that he may be noticed by some talent scout and become the world’s most sought after ‘lifeless extra’ on television.

Mr Lamb is just like us: hankering for our 15 minutes of fame — although quarter-of-an-hour does seem a bit too long for any television producer to want a corpse to be part of any scene (even the dead in Buffy the Vampire Slayer move). But when one is as inspired as Mr Lamb is, petty details don’t come in the way. Mr Lamb’s website show might sound a bit monotonous, but he does mix it up. His site features photographs of the ‘late’ Chuck Lamb in various scenes of death — Mr Lamb lying face down in a bowl of chicken soup (with the caption reading ‘Dying from bird flu’), Mr Lamb electrocuted in the bathtub, Mr Lamb crushed by his garage door....
